ID.me Identity Verification

Like other states, Delaware continues to see an increase in identity theft and fraudulent unemployment claims. In order to safeguard the integrity of Delaware’s unemployment program, we need you to verify your identity using ID.me, our trusted technology partner.

ID.me is a federally certified identity provider and specializes in digital identity protection. They help DDUI make sure that you are who you say you are — and not someone pretending to be you — before we grant you access to sensitive claim information or begin issuing benefit payments.

To verify your identity, please click the green “Verify with ID.me” button on this page to get started. Download the ID.me Unemployment Benefits User Guide here.

All claimants are now able to verify their identity using ID.me. Beginning in August 2021, all claimants who have not yet verified their identity through ID.me will be required to do so in order to continue receiving benefits.

How It Works

You verify your identity by uploading a photo of your government ID along with a selfie. If that method doesn’t work, you can verify your identity by speaking with a real person on a video call.

Many users are able to complete the self-guided process within about 15 minutes.

NOTE: If you have previously registered with ID.me for another application, you do not need to re-register here. Simply login and verify your identity for the Division of Unemployment Insurance.

NOTE: Verifying your identity using ID.me may not resolve all holds. Other issues may be holding up payment. Claimants should provide any fact-finding documents to the department to clear these issues. This process may take time as we need to confirm a claim isn’t fraudulent.

Please do not complete the ID.me identity verification more than once, unless you are specifically asked to do so via a DDUI email or message within your MyUI+ account. Completing multiple ID.me verifications will NOT resolve any issues on your claim any faster. On the contrary, submitting multiple ID.me verifications may increase delays for yourself and other claimants.

Similarly, please do not go into your ID.me account and toggle off/on the setting to share your information with DDUI. Doing so may create duplicate submissions and cause delays.
