The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) is a partner in helping job seekers develop skill sets to find employment. We strive to build relationships with employers so our job seekers can compete for opportunities and obtain employment that meets their needs.
DVR has more than 75 years of experience in helping individuals with disabilities prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment. We provide people who want to work with access to the best resources for training, support and career placement services.
DVR provides individualized services to assist Job-Seekers to become employed.
Our goal is to help Delawareans with disabilities to go to work. Throughout your participation in our program, you and your counselor will work together, ensuring you achieve your employment goal.

Each DVR participant’s experience will be different.
When you are found eligible for DVR services, you and your counselor will develop your plan for employment together. Services are provided based on your job goals and needs. The services you will receive will assist you to find employment that suits you.

DVR can also help you if you are underemployed or want to change or advance your career.
You do not have to be unemployed to receive DVR services. We also assist individuals who want to work more hours or want to advance their careers. This may include retraining, support advancing with your current employer, or training and support finding a new career.

To receive DVR services you will need to follow a few steps including the following:
Referral
You must complete and submit a Referral for Services form. You may mail or fax it to the DVR location nearest you. If you have questions about the referral, please call your local office for more information. Mailing addresses, fax numbers, and telephone numbers are all listed at the bottom of the Referral Form.

Application
Once we receive your Referral Form, an Application for Services packet will be sent to you to complete and return to DVR.

Counselor Assignment & Intake Appointment
When your completed Application arrives back to DVR, you will be assigned a Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Counselor. You will be contacted to schedule your intake appointment.

Certification of Eligibility
Before you can receive services from DVR, your counselor must determine if you are eligible. You may be eligible for DVR services if you:

Plan for Employment
You and your counselor will develop your plan for employment. This is your plan that will assist you to achieve your employment goal. Your plan will include:
Remember, everyone’s plan is different. Each job seeker will receive customized supports and services depending on their job goal and needs.

Employment
Once you have achieved your employment goal DVR services will end. However, if you need help in the future, we are available to assist you.
